This year, we are holding our swimming competition for the 45th time in memory of József Adorján.
József Adorján was an outstanding professional who devoted his life to the development of sport in Kaposvár. He made a lasting contribution not only as an excellent athlete, but also as a dedicated coach and organiser. He played a significant role in athletics, swimming, football, sabre fencing, wrestling and chess. He founded a wrestling section and also coached swimmers and water polo players. As a coach, he had a substantial influence on several outstanding athletes, including Olympic champion Ferenc Csik, Olympic bronze medallist Árpád Lengyel, multiple Hungarian champion Sándor Németh, and Olympic silver medallist water polo player Endre Győrfi (Jutasi, 2007).
The Adorján Sportclub warmly welcomes entries from beginner and advanced swimmers of both youth and adult age groups for its swimming competition on 31 October. The event aims to provide every participant with an opportunity to compete while honouring József Adorján, a defining figure in Somogy County swimming and the coach of numerous excellent swimmers.
In view of the short-course championships, this year’s competition will be held in a 25-metre pool, supporting qualification for swimmers preparing for the age-group championships as well as the preparation of adult competitors.

Entries will be accepted for the following events, depending on age group:
- 50 m backstroke
- 50 m breaststroke
- 50 m freestyle
- 100 m butterfly
- 100 m backstroke
- 100 m breaststroke
- 100 m freestyle
- 200 m butterfly
- 200 m freestyle
- 200 m individual medley

Important times and venue information
- Gates open: 8:30 a.m.
- Warm-up: 9:00 a.m.
- Wreath-laying ceremony: 9:40 a.m., at József Adorján’s memorial plaque by the entrance of Virágfürdő
Competitors and coaches may enter through the athletes’ entrance, while parents and accompanying guests should use the main entrance. Admission is payable for parents and accompanying guests.
Entries and invoicing
The deadline for entry modifications is 28 October. Requests for modifications may be sent to kaposvar1mcmdiamantcup@gmail.com.
Participating teams are kindly requested to send their invoicing requirements to kaposvar1mcmdiamantcup@gmail.com no later than Thursday, 29 October. Please include:
- the preferred payment method: cash or bank transfer;
- the association’s billing details.
Conditions of participation
The competition is open to athletes registered with the Hungarian Swimming Association who hold valid competition and sports medical licences, as well as competitors from invited foreign teams. Swimmers born after 1 January 1985 may compete only if they have successfully completed the required professional minimum examination in the relevant swimming stroke.
Further information
Protests may be submitted within 30 minutes of the publication of the results. The protest fee is HUF 10,000 and will be refunded if the protest is upheld. All participants must comply with the house rules of the Csik Ferenc Competition Swimming Pool. In the event of unforeseen circumstances, the organisers reserve the right to make changes.
Photographs, video recordings and live broadcasts may be made during the event. By participating in the competition, participants consent to the use of photographs and video recordings of them, without compensation, in the communication and promotional materials of the event.
